Will a DS18B20 work in place of a DS18S20?  My application requires the sensor to be outside.  If the DS18B20 will not work, do you have a suggestion for an outside sensor?  Thanks

Not sure what you mean by an "outside sensor"? There is no difference between the two types for that use.

The difference between the two is how the temperature data is represented when read out. You cannot replace one with the other and expect it to work. Most devices that accept both types will detect which type is connected and adjust accordingly.

Also the B version has higher degree (no pun intended) of resolution.

In addition to Frank's comments...

You don't say what hardware you're using. The DIY/Kitsrus K145 works only with the "S" sensor, whereas the K190 will recognize both the "B" and "S" sensors. If you're using other hardware, you need to check the equipment specs -- or contact the manufacturer -- to find out about sensor compatibility.
