It is possible that Atmel have changed the device signatures in the chips, although I think it is very unlikely. I have some 89C51 and 89C52 chips here - I will try them on my K123 programmer and see if they are recognised.

But wait! You tried 89C52 and it worked. Please try the 89C52 and see if that works.

Is the 89C51 chip the same one you tried previously?

No i just brought it from the electronic shop, which is new. And i had tested on others writer or programmer. It works! So i think the kit is down or the detection program was wrong.

The 89C52 is working, i can program it. So it is fine, but not the89C51. Why????

i found out a problem, which is the testing instruction told us to check the voltage of the :

4. Insert a wire link between pins 6 and 20 of the IC1
socket. The VPP voltage should now be 5V.
5. Insert another wire link between pins 7 and 20. The
VPP voltage should now be 12V.

and i found out the Vpp only got 11.85V but not 12V, so will this cause a programming fail?

It works on 89C52 so I don't think that the slightly lower voltage is a problem.

Please check your 89x51 chip - is it 89C51 or 89S51?

Then I have no idea why it cannot detect your 89C51 chip. I would need to have the programmer and your chip here so I can check it.

hey frank, i think i found the problem. I still require your help on it, which i tried to changed the zener diode 12V from 1/2W into 1W. The result is it no longer writer any chip. So i think the problems are caused by the transistor itself. By changing all the transistor, BC547,557. The result is the 89c2051 works, but the 89c51,52,55 is still not working. So please help, i think the problem is because the supply voltage or the detection program.

Thanks for helping me Regards
