Having problems with my K100 kit build. Very low output and noisy. Rotating volume pot makes weird sine wave sweep sound. Input voltage checks out at 17.5 volts. Went back through and checked proper location & polarity of components, checked for bad solder joints or solder bridges as well. Then checked the DC voltage across IC pins 17 & 18 as recommended in the instructions. Found this voltage to be 0.2 volts (supposed to be 3.5 - 4V). Could the IC be faulty? Does the board need to grounded in some way? Any help troubleshooting would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Tom

Tom,

Have you installed the 5 wire links on the board?

Is the IC installed correctly? The notch at one end should be towards the back of the board (towards the RCA connectors).

Remove the IC and check for any IC pins that are bent up under the IC body. This can happen when inserting ICs into sockets.
